7-10 GS Circle

Leadership during these times is challenging. I have discovered that leadership is more than motivating individuals to perform a task or skill, it is about transporting people from one place to another and supporting them emotionally. Motivating people to try new ideas takes communication, communication that is honest and heartfelt. Communication is the key to successful leadership, particularly during these challenging times.  Communication today must be authentic and honest.  That is why GSNCA will be launching several new initiatives in the upcoming months to improve communication for our members, volunteers and staff.

We will begin offering council-wide virtual service unit meetings for all volunteers. The first meeting will be held Monday, July 13th. Volunteers should expect an email from your service unit manager.

We have also formed a special task group that will be discussing diversity, equity, inclusion and access for our members. The task group is comprised of girls, volunteers, board and staff. More information will be shared soon.

Please know that my door is always open and my phone is always on. Communication is a two-way street, and I invite you to contact me anytime.

The 2020 Girl Leadership Summit

Announcing the 2020 Girl Leadership Summit!

Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama is excited to announce our 3rd Annual Girl Leadership Summit! This year, our Girl Leadership Summit will be focused on building the next generation of female entrepreneurs. Out of concern for the health and safety of our girls, the 2020 event will be fully virtual. Moving to a virtual platform for the Girl Leadership Summit has opened up many exciting opportunities. Instead of a one-day event, girls will participate in a multi-session program which will kick off on August 22; provide mentor opportunities during STEM, Business, and Leadership Sessions through September; and culminate in our first-ever Girl Scout Pitch Competition on October 3.

Want to be part of building the next generation of female entrepreneurs? Volunteer to be a mentor during the 2020 Girl Leadership Summit! Email Jessica Bloom at jbloom@girlscoutsnca.org to sign up.

Limited Time Offer for New Lifetime Members!

Join as a lifetime member before July 31 and you’ll get the choice of a special gift—a scarf, cap, or graduation stole. Or, in lieu of a gift, you can have $10 donated to GSNCA. When you become a lifetime member, you help us build the next generation of leaders; we’re grateful for your support—we can’t do it without you!

Lifetime membership dues are $400, or just $200 for young alums - any former Girl Scout under the age of 30.

Now, when you sign up as a lifetime member, $25 of your dues will automatically fund one year of Girl Scout membership for an underserved girl in your local council. Girl Scouts can be a life-changing experience—and you can give that to a girl who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
