GSNCA has made the extremely difficult, but necessary,
decision to cancel the 2020 in-person camp season. Attending Girl Scout
camp in-person is a vital aspect of the Girl Scout experience; one that
is foundational and often transformative for girls. We want to ensure
that girls can live the full camp experience and not have it abridged,
altered, or minimized to accommodate the ongoing threat of COVID 19.
The health, safety, and well-being of our girls,
volunteers, and staff is, and will always be, our first and highest
priority. We held off making a decision about July camps until the
Summer Camp guidelines were issued by the state of Alabama and the
American Camp Association. After the release of those recommendations,
we feel we do not have the ability to test, treat or properly outfit our
camps to meet the minimum required guidelines.
We look forward to offering alternative programming to
girls this camp season, and to the resumption of normal camp activities
as soon as they can safely resume. We will have opportunities for Troop
and Family Camping at our camps and will also have 4 virtual summer
camp sessions for Camp Sunshine 2.0 in June and July.
