4-21 Volunteer Newsletter

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it a thousand times more: we wouldn’t be anywhere without our passionate, caring volunteers! People like you who give their all—whatever that looks like for you—even through challenging times like now. Because when you take the lead as a volunteer, girls learn to take the lead and change the world.

For National Volunteer Month, we want to shout from the rooftops how much we appreciate all you do for Girl Scouts and the huge impact you have on the next generation of female leaders. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything!

And here’s a little something to brighten your day. Throughout April, use code VOLUNTEER2020 * to get a 10 percent discount plus free shipping from our online store, the Girl Scout Shop. It’s just another small way to say thank you for all you do!

*The code is active through April 30, 2020, for a 10 percent discount and free shipping from girlscoutshop.com. The code is for one-time use per customer, online only at girlscoutshop.com. Some exclusions apply.

Introducing Virtual Troop Meetings!

Virtual Troop Meetings: let GSNCA handle the registration, safety, and behind-the-scenes details so you and your troop can get back to connecting, learning, and growing!

Troop Leaders: you may be feeling worried about how you’re going to keep the members of your troop engaged while we are socially distant. Know that you are not alone––and you don’t need to worry! Even though we can’t meet together in person, we can still connect virtually. Let GSNCA take care of the technical details for you! We’ve scheduled a series of virtual meetings to help troop leaders keep girls engaged.

We will set up the meeting in Zoom and handle secure registration for you. We will utilize a three layer security network and provide monitors to assist you. We will even help you get started by providing the opening and some fun program content for all ages. Then we will move you and your girls into a private virtual break-out room, where you can hold your own troop meeting. Troops are required to have a second un-related adult participate.

Dates:
April 23 | April 30 | May 7
4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Here are some quick and easy activities you can lead in your troop’s virtual break-out room:

  • Teach a skill (like how to tie a knot or use a measuring cup)
  • Craft
  • Show and tell
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Q/A What is the best thing you’ve done while out of school? What do you miss most? Etc.

Be sure to send a materials list and any required pre-meeting preparation to girls ahead of time.

Need more ideas?
Email jdick@girlscoutsnca.org or kselzer@girlscoutsnca.org.

Reserve your troop’s break-out room now. You will receive a confirmation email with details on how to get your girls to register.

Last day to thank your volunteers on our Kudoboard

It's the last day to add a note to GSNCA's Kudoboard for our volunteers! Take a moment to add a thank you message, picture, and/or video. We'll be sharing the finished board with our volunteers tomorrow.

Here are two more ideas to show your favorite Girl Scout volunteers, like your leader or your cookie manager, how much they mean to you. Even if you can't see them in person right now, here are a few ways to show you care:

  • Call or video chat with them!
  • Personalize one of our predesigned card templates, one for younger girls and one for older girls. Add a straight-from-the-heart message, then text or email it to your volunteer/s. They'll love hearing how they've made a difference in your life!
